An introduction to the India Office Records

Dr Margaret Makepeace is a Senior Archivist in the India Office Records at The British Library and an author. She has researched various aspects of the history of the East India Company, including trade with the Guinea Coast 1657-1666; the relationship between the Company and Armenian merchants during the seventeenth and early eighteenth centuries; and the management of the Company's London warehouse labourers 1800-1858.

Dr Makepeace is interested in promoting the India Office Records as an important source for London history. Dr Makepeace is also investigating the 'Political and Secret' papers of the East India Company and the India Office whilst cataloguing the records in IOR: L/PS/19.

This workshop is open to the wider public.
